ALT 1 - Technology Operations and Concepts

Demonstrate a sound understanding of computer technology: what types of technology exist, how types of technology function, what component parts work with specific technologies.

AST 1.1 - Computer Hardware  :  Demonstrate understanding of computer hardware, peripherals and troubleshooting.

AST 1.2 - Computer Software  :  Understand, evaluate, and use computer software.

AST 1.3 - Operating Systems  :  Explore and demonstrate understanding of managing operating systems.

ALT 2 - Electronic Communication - Collaboration

Use multiple processes of communication. They will understand what appropriate means of communication is most beneficial for a given task's purpose and audience.

AST 2.1 - Electronic Communication  :  Interact with and identify different types of electronic communication/collaboration: e-mail, cell phones, blogs, teleconferencing, social networks, email and other electronic devices/tools.

ALT 3 - Apply Features

Apply features in a variety of applications.

AST 3.1 - Default Settings  :  Identify and change default settings.

AST 3.2 - Screen Components  :  Identify and customize screen components (toolbars, ruler, status bar, document window, task pane, etc.) in each application.

AST 3.3 - Utilize Graphic Objects  :  Utilize graphic objects (examples: clipart, pictures, WordArt, drawing tools, text boxes)

AST 3.4 - Headers and Footers  :  Utilize headers and footers, spell check, zoom and view, format painter.

ALT 4 - Digital Media Computer Functions

Demonstrate the ability to perform common computer functions on a standard platform (PC, Mac, Linux) as they apply to digital media.

AST 4.3 - Basic Digital Media  :  Understand and discuss the components of a basic digital media computer system and peripherals.

Understand and demonstrate design processes.

AST 5.1 - Visual Design Elements  :  Visual Design Elements — define the principles and elements of design

AST 5.2 - Color Theory  :  Color Theory — recognize and apply the following concepts: color properties, schemes, depth, and mode

ALT 6 - Page Layout

Understand and demonstrate page layout.

AST 6.1 - Page Layout Application  :  Demonstrate operation of tools, panels, and menus in a page layout application (i.e. InDesign)

AST 6.2 - Layout Elements  :  Define layout elements (body text, display text, illustration and white space)

AST 6.3 - Proper Use of Guides, Margins, etc.   :  Demonstrate proper use of guides, margins, columns, gutters, and rows

AST 6.4 - Paper Sizes and Orientations  :  Know basic paper sizes and orientations (i.e. letter and tabloid)

AST 6.5 - Import and Modify Image  :  Import and modify an image in a page layout program

AST 6.6 - Multi-page Layout  :   Create a multi‐page layout

Understand and demonstrate digital image editing.

AST 7.1 - Image Editing Application  :  Demonstrate operation of tools, panels, and menus in an image editing application (i.e. Photoshop)

AST 7.2 - Bitmap Graphics  :  Create, manipulate and appropriately use bitmap (raster) graphics

AST 7.3 - Raster Images  :  Understand the advantages & disadvantages of raster images

ALT 8 - Illustrations

Understand and demonstrate digital illustrations.

AST 8.1 - Illustraion Application  :  Demonstrate operation of tools, panels, and menus in an illustration application (i.e. Illustrator)

AST 8.2 - Vector Graphics  :  Create, manipulate and appropriately use vector graphics

AST 8.3 - Vector Images  :  Understand the advantages & disadvantages of vector images

ALT 9 -Digital Portfolio

Design and develop various projects to add to an digital digital portfolio.

AST 9.1 - Select Best Work  :  Select their best work to create an digital archive that adheres to copyright and fair use guidelines and justify their choices.

AST 9.2 - Output Projects  :  Output projects to an appropriate delivery medium

ALT 10 - Interactive Digital Media Projects

Learn and follow the process of planning, designing, creating digital assets, evaluating, revising, and publishing of interactive digital media projects.

AST 10.1 - Pre-plan  :  Pre-plan for an interactive media project

AST 10.2 - Create and Develop  :  Create and develop the content for the project

AST 10.3 - Package and Publish  :  Package and publish the project

ALT 11 - Professional Metacognative Skills

Apply and demonstrate key professional metacognitive skills to facilitate business success and to progress in business, marketing, sales and service careers.

AST 11.1 - Collaboration  :  COLLABORATION: Students work effectively with others; respect diversity; are empathetic, cooperative, and willing to compromise; assume shared responsibility for group tasks; and communicate effectively in groups.

AST 11.2 - Communication  :  COMMUNICATION: Students effectively communicate and listen through oral, written, visual, and nonverbal formats in both formal and information situations.
